The ultimate mash-up of flavors, presentation and portability, chefs are now moving tacos to the sweet side of the menu.

Perhaps inspired by the Original Choco Taco by Klondike, the sophisticated Taco Cioccolato at Garrett East in New York features Nutella brownie and espresso gelato-stuffed cookie taco shells with whipped mascarpone.

And Tacos Sweet in Austin serves up customizable chocolate or vanilla chocolate shells, with a range of fillings and toppings like mint chocolate chip ice cream, Magic Shell sauce, Cocoa Krispies and sprinkles.

With their two-to-three bite appeal, dessert tacos offer big opportunity for modern menus.
